Evaluation of AFD Group’s Contribution to the SDGs in Indonesia

Published on

This pilot evaluation, covering the period 2015-2022, highlights the relevance and positive impact of projects funded in Indonesia. Despite a smaller financial volume compared to multilateral institutions, the AFD group plays a key role in supporting strategic actions aligned with Indonesian priorities, particularly in the sectors of marine and coastal environment and lower-carbon energy. Its contribution to the country's development trajectory is qualitative and targeted; it is based on establishing a public policy dialogue on key reforms (notably taxation and climate finance), good coordination with other donors, and progressively integrates the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The evaluation recommends continuing the ongoing actions, deepening the consideration of the SDGs in the implementation of funded operations, and further supporting the private sector. It calls for better mobilization of all financing tools and enhanced synergy between the Group’s entities.
